Does anybody out there happen to know which games utilize the link cable? I have been kicking around the idea of buying a 2nd DC for that purpose.

The system link feature is hidden in all the games. Also Daytona doesn't work....everyone has said the game doesn't work with system link and that it is false information spread by advertisement from Dragoncast company.

For clarification, keep in mind that the system link feature was only developed for the three games lordnikon mentioned which are Aero Dancing F, Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram, and Ferrari F355 Challenge. It is in thos games that the link feature is hidden on the options menus - it's not hidden or supported on other games.

I do remember reading that Daytona USA 2001 was initially going to have the link feature, but that was scrapped since the link cable was never officially supported in the US market. That's too bad, because if there's a game made for linking, that's it.

The link cable was very under utilized, but that was understandable given the larger potential of the built-in modem. Still, I have a link cable, and I'd like to build a head-to-head cabinet someday for DC and PS2 games. A larger library of linked games would have been nice.

More linked games in the future of games would be pretty cool. First of all, it would lag less than online games, no? Would make a good setup for a large gaming event. Would be a little more convenient. Somebody'd bring the TVs, and everyone would bring their systems, copy of the game, and hookups.

But, the only downside is the developers would have to make support for 24 or so linked systems Very Happy

Xbox uses standard LAN protocals though, ethernet. Rather than a seperate system linking concept like the DC, Saturn, or PS1 had. PS2 used a network protocol but was firewire using the i.Link port.

Why is Aero Dancing F not listed in the online games list, system link section?

edit
Never mind I found it under the Japan section. This brings a new question though. Are Sega Tetris, and Aero Dancing i system link games? I assume that the Japan list is accurate, but there was no mention of them earlier in this thread. Shocked

That post was from 2004. Later on we found out that Aero Dancing i and Sega Tetris also supported System Link.

So yes they do support the system link cable.
