go w/ 4x4 Evo. Infact, go for it twice and mail me the second one!
Le Spank has posted on a couple of threads how F355's online mode works. Just poke around the F355 section. |

F355 is a ghost racing kind of thing, watch your opponent race, they finish, you do the same. Go with 4x4 |

For offline play F355 is much better. Just real SEGA Arcade ware.
The online mode just let's you drive a time attack race and then shows you all players' replays at once. Plus here: F355 has a cable play mode! 4x4 Evo's Online mode is much funnier as you really race your opponents. But its engine and offline play just don't have the same quality as F355. Plus here: Many trucks to choose and different sorts of tuning. Trucks or Ferraris? Your choice... I'd suggest to buy both. F355 is a must-have-game but for the beginning you'll be much less frustrated if you take 4x4 online. |

I didn't realise I was your nemesis!?
As far as I'm concerned Ferrari is a must-have if you are prepared to put a few hours in learning the handling and manual gears. No it's not head to head but that doesn't stop it from being incredible online and off. Plus you still get 3 organised races per week Tues/Thurs/Sat. |

only problem i find with f355 is the learning curve, which is astronomical unless you are a driving sim nut. i find it good fun but cant really get to grips with it offline. 4x4 is good fun, the tracks can be insane sometimes and its just a really good allround online racer, its a bit unfair when pc players use hacked vehicles that you cant compete against but most of the time the game is just fum whether you win or not!!

well, since i SUCK at all simulation racing games (besides porsche unleased which i was good at), i'll try and track down 4x4 first... but i won't be getting another game for a few weeks or so...

definately go w/ evo, it has a tripodometer for you car! And driving is pretty simple, just keep the gas floored! Just navigate the crazy terrain.

Dude, if you can pick up a decent copy of F355 Challenge for 9 bucks, GET IT!
Yes, the learning curve is pretty steep, but the results are very rewarding as you see your driving skills improve. I've had the game for a few years now, and I still drive it constantly. The driving physics are still some of the best (if not the best) you will encounter in a video game, and the overall graphics, including car and track models, are gorgeous too. Plus, the online racing, eventhough it is ghost racing, is an absolute blast. F355 is a shining example of the Dreamcasts capabilities, being a near perfect conversion of the arcade cabinet that runs on 3 NAOMI boards, and flat out, it's one of the best racing simulations available. Period. 4x4 Evo isn't a bad game at all. In fact, I play it online often, but given a choice, I think F355 Challenge is a better game in every way. It's a must have title on Dreamcast. |

i read that the collisions were the main problem with the game, in that they are unrealistic and u just stop which can take you out of a race, like ridge racer (i'm talking ps1 and n64, i dunno about the recent ones)
