Hello!
I'm planning on using my DC for some web surfing but I have a few questions before I get started to get an idea of what to expect. I just want to use the DC to surf a few of my fave sites and check my web based email when I'm on the road. I'll be using the 56k modem and I'm planning on signing up with Netscape for their $9.95/month internet service. 1] What is the display resolution of the DC web browser? 2] I have the Web Browser 2.0 disc but I was thinking of upgrading to 3.0 if its quite a bit better. 3] Do I need the keyboard and/or mouse? --- I'll probably get the keyboard anyway. 4] Do either the 2.0 or 3.0 browsers support frames ( and iFrames )? --- A couple sites I visit often still use frames Thanks! BTW, I love how onlineconsoles.com uses phpbb to manage and run this site! Great use of phpbb! |

You will need Dreamkey 3 to enter your ISP details as previous versions of Dreamkey dont have that ability.

if your using a pc to view the net atm, then your in for a big shock when you browse on the dc, the fonts are HUGE for a start, it'll be a pretty big shock to your system, its sorta like going back to the early days of internet explorer:

I'm on my PC now but I did manage to get online with no effort using my DC.
It's kinda funky old school web browsing but it will do the trick. I also won a DC keyboard off ebay for .99 cents plus $8.00 shipping so that will make communicating in forums much nicer than the virtual keyboard in the 2.0 browser. And I'm going to pick up the 3.0 web browser too. I don't know what Dreamkey 3 is or xpd. |

if you want to use a keyboard and mouse, you have to have the DC browser 3.0, I use it on XDP web browser. The resolution is 640x480 and i have no idea about the frames. I know that I was looking at british pounds (the sybol) on my dreamcast and it screwed it up. I have never seen such funky characters in my life on a PC. It was a message from ebay, i think that means it doesn't support frames

i had a pso website when i first started the game, on geocities, that had 3 frames on it (links banner and main) and it displayed them fine, but if its complicated then i guess it doesnt really like it

Planetweb can handle frames, but frames at a 640x480 resolution are ugly and a pain in the ass.

I don't know what Dreamkey 3 is or xpd. Dreamkeys are the PAL browsers --- XDP is a homemade bundle of browsers. They are selling planet web 3.0 for 15,- $ on ebay. The DC himself works real good for emails and websurfing. If you cant use a pc the dc is the cheapest system 2 cross the www. (PW 3.0 works also with paypal!) |
