Well... How about making a list -similar to the PSO awareness list- which contains the tracks which are worth downloading and those which aren't?

Milksheik and me tested some tracks yesterday, but most of them were frustrating.
It's hard to find good ones.

By the way... Some of the PC players yesterday weren't as stupid as usual. I think those AKoR people aren't all bad. Just make sure to set car limitations and you can try having some races with PC users.
We also met a DC player from brazil.

The tracks we used were hosted at the archive of http://members.lycos.co.uk/fall3/ but it seems you can find them at different sites as well. I'd recommend that site tough; it works ^^

For example, our results would look like that:

ENGLISHTWN.LTE - it's not great but it's quite OK for a race

greasefactory.lte - not realistic, OK for fun races

MRevenge.lte - well... sadistic skill parkour, recommended by an AKoR member, you may try if you have lots of time

DCSX.LTE - boring

ASD.LTE - it's a challenge to clear at least one lap, maybe funny, I do not recommend it though (hint: use reverse gear)

ForestRun.lte - bad Silverton mod

River.lte - really baaaaad

[RCG]Trail.lte - worst . . . you can't even find the checkpoints

So... what do you think about the idea?

Well... I don't bother about those ads.

Lycos lets people host sites up to 50MB for free... All they want to do is showing some ads on the site.
That's fair enough. Rolling Eyes

I haven't played 4x4 Evo this weekend but...
I've found a PC version of the game on my desk (Yeah... I really *found* it. I did not order it, it's divine intervention)

Here's my first track:
http://mitglied.lycos.de/elkelch/4x4track/ALTEST2.LTE

I tried to make it look as original as possible for the first time.
It includes: a proper road texture, a map, a train and proper checkpoints

Cool. There are a couple of mistakes on my list.

whitescreek.lte is actually whites_creek.lte

td6.lte is actually !td6.lte

What kind of video card do you have on your PC?

geforce 2 Mx 32Mb Leadtek
256Mb "mixed ram Sad -samsung + infineon"
Seagate 20 gig + maxtor 120 gig

Pc to play 4x4 should be enough .

back to topic .

I fixed the problem for dc user that could not surf to the tripod site
because they had javascript enabled , and didn't know that u need to disable it .
Now redirects to a different domain with a BIIIG notice to disable javascript Razz .
Use http://www.4x4.de.gg to go to this site

I added your tracks . to Al your tracks are not really "recomend" tracks
lol
Oh and Al's track is now on the site http://members.lycos.co.uk/fall3/ALTEST2.LTE
did not tested it though

If you think something is missing/needet on the site , let me know and i might add it

In fact I couldn't test it on a DC yet as well...

For some reason the in-game download didn't work from my homepage, neither from milksheik's.

Maybe we'll able to play it downloading from your site.

An alternate sort function would be quite useful...
It'd cool if you were able to choose between sorting by track name and sorting by file name. Wink

no problem , give me a script , and i'll include it into the site . I have little to no time
to search for one myself . .
