Starting on December 21st, 2005 Sega and Sonic Team will be celebrating the 5 year Anniversary of Phantasy Star Online. The title first launched as PSO ver 1 in Japan on 12.21.2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. While it wasn't the first online console RPG to hit the scene(Hudson's Rune Jade for Dreamcast was actually the very first), PSO has solidified itself as the first successful mass scale online RPG to reach home consoles. Phantasy Star Online connected gamers from all over Planet Earth to explore and discover a whole new world, Ragol.

There will be a new website going live near the end of the year. It will be exciting to see exactly what type of content goes up because Sonic Team will most likely be pushing this as a tribute to not only PSO, but its humble beginnings on the Dreamcast console.

We might see some special event or decorations up on various versions of PSO, (most likely on GC, PC, and Xbox). However I do not think the Dreamcast version itself would get any special content, as the time period since their last update to Dreamcast PSO has been quite a long time.

This exciting news, because it brings Phantasy Star Online and most importantly the Sega Dreamcast back to center stage.

yeay that is excellent news wow I cant believe they still bring us up like that .
See that why sega and so sonic team are the best they never forget us.
Even without any special decorations or anything its enough that they still remember us because its an excellent sign that pso might be up for quite a while before it goes offline , which would problably be when broadband is the only connection avaiable or something.

Thanks for the news and keep up the good work , just dont be too serious and stuff , it scares everyone a litlle. Smile

well i doubt it will do as much as charmed thinks it will for us here in dreamcast world but it will at least be good publicity for the game/company as a whole. it should in theory have to cover the dreamcast in some brief way so thats good. look forward to more developments.

LOL! I was meaning his hardware (DC) seeing as it would be 11 years old by then, and i was only kidding. I know he would probably get a new one. (If you can still find one by then, it'll probably be a rare items in the next 5 yrs)
