Just wondering if there are any apps like windows or something for the DC. It would be a cool thing to show off.. like a browser, game loader.. hell why not powerpoint.
I know it would be useless, but just wondering. |

Well, there's always Linux. I heard that the Dreamcast can actually be a really useful item for hackers who need physical access to the network they want to hack; the security guard won't let them wander around with a computer, but a Dreamcast (with BBA) and a keyboard is fine. Then they just find a quiet corner with an available LAN port, plug in, boot up Linux, and hack away as if they were sitting at a PC on the actual network.
Anyway, if you want to show off your Dreamcast's abilities, try Linux. |

Yeah, there's some cool Linux stuff available, which is capable of running the X WIndow System and some basic apps like Doom and XMame. It can also do some shibby networking stuff like telnet and ftp server..

Ya you can, for those who don't know a VCD is a like a pre-dvd thing that was popular in asia. Whats cool is you can download movies with Kazaa or something and change the format to VCD and get a dreamcast vcd player (I think they have them at dcemulation), burn both on one (or more cds they are large) and watch a movie. Done that befor really cool, I say LOR on my Dreamcast and in good resolution too! LOR was 3 cd's just to give you a clue on the size and what not. Im going to put on the net a guide to this soon I think. Plus I can get around the legal part by just telling the to own the dvd first, so im in the clear.

You don't have to worry about being "in the clear" as far as VCDs go; they are a perfectly legitimate media. Just because there are lots of pirated movies on VCD doesn't mean that all of them are. There are plenty of legitimate VCDs out there.
