No this does not affect the NTSC-U/C release of the PSO.

Is this the reason I couldn't get online with a japanese DC? Even though I live in the US.

does the american ver. will be able to play with the japanese pso ?
The american version is no longer online, but before it could and the European version can play with Japanese players, as Jpanese players can log onto the European servers and vice-versa.

Speaking of ISAO, I just got ahold of the XDP browser and I went to go set up my ISAO account with the dramcast, but it comes to a screen with wto lines of japaneese that I cannot read and no options to continue. Any Ideas anyone?

I just tried to log on with the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online Ver.2, but it said I was suspended, so they obviously caught me using a fake ISAO account. It'd be nice if someone from Japan could help us set up "real" ones...

Looks like it happened today!

It seems that you need to change your DNS server on your internet settings to the following:

Primary DNS “202.221.244.21”
Secondary DNS “202.221.244.22”

Save, then try to connect! Is it really all that simple though?

That would be crazy if that is the case. I wish I had a JP copy of PSO to try.

Yes, yes it is. I tried it early in the morning and it worked. Very Happy

The JP blocks have a pretty good amount of people on them (especially when you consider the fact that nearly everyone has likely moved on to Episode I&II and Blue Burst, or just doesn't care about PSO in general anymore).

What did you use to connect? A fresh copy of Japanese PSO?
Was it version 1 or version 1?
Where do you live?

I recently found a brand new copy of PSO Ver. 2 on eBay; I used that to get online.

As for my location, I live in Illinois.

You bought a Japanese version of PSO ver 2 on eBay? Just trying to make sure you are connecting with a JP version.

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to find a brand new one for a reasonable (in my eyes, anyway) price.
