What if you dont really want the game?

I considered buying this game, but i wasnt sure if i wanted it so i downloaded it. I hated it, so i threw away the copy. (Yes, i really did throw it away) I dont see a problem with downloading a game to see if you like it, as long as you are willing to dispose of it soon after. I dont have much cash, so i would have been really bummed if i had payed 65 bucks for a game to sit on my shelf.

If you don't want the game then don't buy it. I almost go bezerk when I see people saying: "Buy Trizeal, so you can support the Dreamcast, who cares if you don't like it, you OWE the Dreamcast to pay for and play this game"

If the game isn't your cup of Tea, then don't buy it!

Also I hinted at all of this in the original news post I did on the game which I will quote below:

Pre-order Trizeal if you:
...are looking to use the games internet rankings
...enjoy playing shootemups
...want to support Triangle Service
...want to support future Dreamcast releases
...are curious about the shmup genre
...have 60 bucks to spend, and have nothing else better to do with it

Do NOT pre-order Trizeal if:
...you are buying the game just because other people are.
(Even though this would benifit Triangle Service, I still think mindless commercialism is disgusting.)

As far as the whole, try before you buy, scenario is concerned... This all get's really tricky. Because now you pull out the honor card. Yes, try before you buy is very usefull, if you are truly truly truly downloading a game to try before you buy, to "test" out the game. However how many people actually will be doing this legit. I do, a few others probobly do, but 90% of the people out there will bullshit just to validate not spending the money.

Basically, if anyone says "oh yea I am trying before I buy", and end up downloading the game, and are playing the backup still even after they said "yea I don't like the game"...then they are just plain full of shit.

sorry yeah i didnt mean you should buy it whether you like it or not earlier i just meant that its a good thing to do to support the dreamcast if you can afford it by buying new games that come out on it. i wish i hadnt bought baldur force exe but i did. i dont buy any of the new japanese date sims simply cos they are imo a crap genre with no redeeming qualities and arent worth buying in the least. anyway nikon pretty much covered everything, the majority out there will download it to say im just seeing if i like it before i buy it, but it rarely works the right way.

See, i am way to lazy to download games anyways. I have to much to do on my computer to slow it down by downloading games that i could just go out and buy.

The only games i even do take the time to download to try are ones that i would have to spend a lot of money on. Dont want to spend that much money and then the game turn out to suck. I usually stick to a 1 Week rule, ether buy the game within one week or distroy the copy.

Sounds like a good idea. And reminds me that I still need an F-ing cd-r! Yeah, I do the exact same thing with music, but then I scoff at people who just download music. Like my Russian friend, she doesn't have a SINGLE legit cd, and she's got over 100 cds Evil or Very Mad . But then again, its all metallica so I don't really give a shit. But boy-o-boy it's still a bad practice.

Last I checked, Trizeal wasn't being produced anymore, but I could be wrong.

I feel that if your going to be going that route... try before you buy, so to speak... it's ok. However, if you there producing copies and fail to purchase the original game, well, that ain't right at all. It's an exploit, really, for the Dreamcast. How can you stop it? The system can play backups without any hardware mods. I mean, I'm glad that it can, because I play emulators as well Half-Life and Propeller Arena on it. Their pros and cons to this. But I agree that if developers take time to develop for a 7 year old system, the community should support these people buy purchasing their products. Were's the incentive to develop if work can be distributed illegally and played for free? Out of curiousity since this whole topic got started, are new releases released through GD-Rom or CD-R?

Official Dreamcast releases are pressed to GD-ROM. Independent releases done by the GoatStore are on CD-R.

As for Trizeal, and selling on ebay, and Piracy...

Selling a pirated game is just wrong period.

The reason why I take a stance against open public promotion of Piracy is not necessarily because it is preventing legitimate copies to be sold. The biggest problem I have with piracy is not the act of it, but the people who are pirating. I can't relate to them. I cannot discuss video games with these people. They are not on the same "level" as you or I. Have you ever tried to discuss video games with people who emulate EVERYTHING and own all pirated games? They don't take interest / stock in video games the same way we do. They have the "complete rom set" but they have never played many of the games for more than 2 seconds. They get more pleasure boasting about their warez than they do playing the game.
