I have a few questions that I need to answer/research:

1.) In the US PSO ver. 2, can you still download quest?

2.) In the sports titles with online play, can you still download the roster updates

3.) In Skies of Arcadia (DC), with the extra files, is it still on par with the Gamecube version?

4.) In the US Shenmue, is it possible to translate your file to the PAL Shenmue II?

5.) In any US PSO, is it possible to translate a player's file to play the PAL version?

6.) How do you make a boot disc (to play imports) and/or a web browsing disc

7.) If I have PSO Plus on Gamecube, should I buy PSO ver.2 on Dreamcast just to kick it with everyone here and enjoy the oldschoolness of the dreamcast?

It would be great if anyone can help me. Thanks!

1. Dunno but doubt it.
2. Nope.
3. Dunno, I disliked Skies of Arcadia and gave it away.
4. No.
5. Dunno, but highly doubt it.
6. You can't make a boot disc. You buy a boot disc.
7. I still don't have PSO so I can't say anything about this. Yet. But hopefully I'll be getting it by the end of the year.
Apparently I'm wrong about number 4. Embarassed

1. ?
2. No
3. IMO, yes.
4. YES, have seen many tutorials on the net for how to do this.
5. ?
6. The only boot disc you can download is the Utopia Boot Disc and it really doesnt work that well. Some imports work with it, some dont. I would go buy a Code Breaker/Action Replay to use as a boot disc.
7. IMO, no. Seems a waste to play on 2 systems unless your OBSESSED with PSO

maybe, not sure

no

to play imports in general you can use a utopia boot disc, game shark disc, or a DC-X import boot loader.
(note: do not use the utopia with PAL PSO, it will not allow you to use moon atomizers online, its a weird glitch)

7.) If I have PSO Plus on Gamecube, should I buy PSO ver.2 on Dreamcast just to kick it with everyone here and enjoy the oldschoolness of the dreamcast?
yes, since PAL pso is free to play online

Thanks. Does anyone know anyone that's willing to sell their PAL PSO? I was looking on ebay, and I couldn't find a copy. I also tried estarland.com and still no luck. Maybe there's a way to make a private surver on the US PSO.

I would suggest looking on the UK eBay sight. Both versions of PSO are widely available on the UK site, Paypal is widely used and will convert currency automatically, and many of the sellers will ship to the US no problem. I've purchased PSO and Headhunter this way, and it's really no different than using regular eBay. Just be careful with your currency conversions though, because sometimes the eBay site will not show you the equivalent dollar amount.

There's a link you for the UK eBay site at the bottom of the eBay main page. Oh, and your regular eBay ID and password give you full access.

It surprises me that we cannot still download new sports rosters (question #2). I do believe that that was one of the main advertised features for the 2k series. Not to mention a great solution to cookie-cutter sequels (the new roster is the main selling point for a sports sequal).

So what I'm wondering is this: why are there no 2k roster updates available for download?

I was wondering about the updated rosters as well. You would think that that could be something that could be done homebrew like. I really doubt a save file for a roster update would be encrypted. If someone had a save file somewhere perhaps it could be figured out how to go about creating a new one. The big "but" though, is does anyone care enough?

If I am correct, the reason why roster updates can't be downloaded for the 2K series is for the same reason they were taken offline, (Sega didn't think it was worth it to support the Dreamcast anymore.) Unless I'm mistaken, the servers into which you'd need to login to download the files use SNAP, the same protocol for playing games online. Sega sold SNAP to Nokia, some time ago. For this reason, it is also unlikely that any of the SNAP games will ever go online again.

I would think that you would be able to modify a roster update that was already downloaded with todays stats and the like.
