I'm currenty setting up my PC-DC server. I am setting up Winroute, do I need to do this...?
Quote:
An easy way to do this is to forward the entire range of ports available to your Dreamcast. This is mainly for those who only use a PC for their PC-DC server and nothing else, as it will send all traffic to the Dreamcast, preventing normal web browsing from the windows 98 PC. I still want to use the pc to browse the internet, so how do I go about configuring winroute? Cheers in advance! |

That depends upon which games you want to play online.
PlanetWeb Browser: n/a GameSpy: 6500, 6667, 28900, 27900 4x4 Evolution: 7000-9000 Starlancer: 2300-2400,6900-7500,47524 Phantasy Star Online: 40975, 41231, 41487, 41743 Quake III Arena: 27960-2796X Maximum Pool: unknown Route the ports accordingly. This is all taken from the guide on this website. http://dreamcast.onlineconsoles.com/phpBB2/guides_pcdcwin98.php#7d |

Hey cheers.
I printed out the guide and somehow missed out that chart! Damn I'm a fool. Well all ports are configured but I can't connect. I'm guessing its my modem (its internal) because the Dial-Up server says the status is idle. I'm guessing I need the line voltage simulator or an external modem. Is this result consistent with a non-compatible modem, or I am doing something else wrong? System details: Windows 98 56k internal modem 56k DC modem Broadband via wired router |

Yeah that sounds like an incompatible modem to me. Once you start the "server" it will say "idle" for a while as your dreamcast dials in. Then it should say "answering," and finally it will say "user blah blah connected" and give a time or something like that.

Right I'm going to get an externial modem, and I see many people mention the Dynex. Problem is that shipping 1 from the US to UK will cost more than the modem. Does the Dynex have a PSU or does it take its power from the USB cable? If that the case I will get a external usb from a UK auction. Posted Mon Nov 26, 2007 1:05 am: I just ordered a Dynex DX-M300 56K V.92 USB External Modem from the states! Only $2, but $20 shipping! This is the final component I need to set up my PC-DC server, its been nearly 2 years since I was last online with my DC! Can't wait to get back on! |

How do i get to step 2? Does anyone have any pics about how to configure this? This is hard, the other site which is down had pics. Anyone please help me?

Hi the guide below helps you to set up step 2. You need a copy of PlanetWeb though.
