I have questions regarding review copies of Dreamcast games. By this, I mean pre-release beta copies sent to video game magazines, etc to be reviewed, and analyzed, which I assume must exist. First, do they exist? (I'm assuming they do, but I wanted to be sure, anyway.)

If such review copies do exist, are they written on GD-ROMs, like normal Dreamcast games, or CD-ROMs? What do they look like? Are they just bare discs with the title written on, or do they have images? Can anyone provide an image?

i dont have any images but what you are talking about are the gold presses. i believe thats what the media calls them and if im right there just bare discs with the name written on them. they are basically the retail release version of the game but get sent out a month or two before the game sees retail.

Pre release/Review or Beta copies are usually called "white label" versions.
I have a Beta copy of UEFA striker, heres a picture of it:

I thank both of you for the responses. I had posted before that I had been sent a pirated copy of Typing of the Dead. http://dreamcast.onlineconsoles.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2414&start=60 The seller later told me that it is a reviewer's version. I doubted it was true, but decided to ask about review copies anyway. After I saw the image lozz posted, I was certain that it wasn't a reviewer's copy, or "gold press," either. Fortunately, the buyer was cooperative, and gave me a refund. I'm still not completely sure on whether or not he's knowingly engaging in piracy, though.

A friend got one for me off ebay (a review/"white label" copy, that is) . Some of them can be quite cheap, and it's cool to have one or two, but I'd rather spend money in complete games with their box and manual.

Oh and it sucks how some people keep selling pirated games on ebay :/ If he cooperated maybe you should leave neutral feedback, just in case he didn't know he was selling a pirated copy (which I doubt).
