I couldn't find any threads dedicated to this topic, so I figured I'd start one:
I use a PC-DC server setup on Win 98; I'm successful with web browsing, PSO, and Quake III. I've been reading through the guides, testing, trying to get starlancer to connect to gamespy, with no success. I've tried using a voltage simulator swap trick, changing IP's, and triple-checking my port forwarding. I'm about to go through this yet another time, one step at a time. I would like to know, however, for all those who have had this problem, how did you get around it? |

I know this probably won't be helpful but,
I'm curious as well. I tried all the things you mentioned above. I had someone tell me that some ISPs just don't work with gamespy. Whether or not there is any truth to this, it seems to play out for me in practice. I can play PSO, Quake, browse etc. but no gamespy games. I decided to give up on playing Starlancer online since I'm not willing to change my ISP for one game. |

I had this problem with Starlancer and the PC-DC server with my original PAL copy and still do..it will just refuse to connect....I then decided to download a copy and just try it on CD-r instead and what do you know? It connects fine!
So my solutiuon for this was to use a backup..but I assume it's got something to do with the fact that the backup was probably from the US version....thats what I always assumed anyway...anyway..may be worth downloaidn a backup and giving that a try? |
