Today a working copy of Hellgate got released on the internet. I had it running for a quick test; and I found that in the Multiplayer option you can find LINK PLAY!..

I havent been able to test it yet; but I think and hope it works. Just letting you guys know Very Happy

Correct, the game was not finished. You can read more about it here. It's not often you see an official site for an unreleased game still up after 8 years. Very Happy

The link cable mode does work, but only somewhat. Player one cannot damage player two and the sound effects don't stop. There are also some issues with data getting interpreted by the wrong side. For example, if you use player 2's weapons, player 1's weapon will animate on player 1's side. I haven't tried going online with it yet (since it uses dialup), but it doesn't look like it makes use of broadband.

Overall, it looks like it would have been a fun game if they had a little more time to polish it up. The turning is too fast and is hard to follow when it rotates to the side.

Are we saying this game had online as in online play or as in online functions or a built in web browser? If this does have online play someone test it a.s.a.p and find out what are or was the connection method i.e. master list dedicated server direct ip connect etc. I would test this but I am away at present and wont be back until the 24th.

watched the video, interesting looking game. I'll have to download it, especially to try out the vs cable functions.
