So the years have passed, and my memory is getting fuzzy. I know in PAL territories that the 33k modem was standard. However wasn't it reported that very early on in the Dreamcast's lifecycle in Japan, the 33k modem was released there as well, and then quickly shifted over to 56k?

I want to procure one of these modems if they exist but I am scratching my head trying to locate more information.

Yeah. I double checked on wiki. Consoles before the US launch had the 33k modem

Well that's wikipedia. There is a ton of misinformation there. The longstanding rumour is that Japan had a 33k modem early on, but I am looking for someone who has tested the connection rate on an earlier modem, serial numbers, etc. My Japanese model could have a 33k modem. I just have to test it.

I know right! A lot of info there.

Just saw a HTK-7100 33k on eBay for 10$! If you can find a 1998 Japanese Release DC for a good price you get Heat Pipe cooling system with a 33k modem. Shocked

33.6K Very Happy Same as the 56k modem.

The PC-DC speed is constrained by the analog upload speed of the host modem which is capped at 33.6K
