for Genesis was actuallly based off of the anime and in Japan called "Fist of the North Star"? I found out a few years back, lately been
thinking how close the game was to the source material. If I remember correctly.

Did you also know, that it's Prequel on the Sega Master System, was "Black Belt"

I did not know that, I blame the cover art for the SMS version of the game and the title 'Black Belt' did a real good job of covering up a property that was not licensed outside of Japan.

A lot of SMS games had the worst cover art, and augmented titles. They have some generic Karate Dude on the cover, or a tank, or some generic basketball player. Maybe they did it so save on ink.

"Scrap these highly detailed paintings of video game characters. Put a basic grid on there and find bob in accounting who makes T-Shirts for his kids hockey league. Pay him 500 bucks for 50 illustrations and lets call this case closed."

The artwork on Mark III games was pretty nice:

btw I cannot believe someone registered the domain "segadoes" LOL that is too good.

Just look at the cover for Black Belt:

Its a foot, with some smacking explosion effect behind it. I wonder if this is the worst SMS cover ever or if there is something even lamer than this.

I only knew Last Battle was Fist of the Northstar because of the PS2 Sega Ages 2500 Series version and Last Battle being brought up when mentioning that. I wonder if I had played the Genesis version not knowing this, if I would ahve made the connection.

The thing is I believe last battle was a Genesis launch game, with punching people off the screen and when the main character he'd get all muscly and destroy his shirt (kinda like altered beast with out including Zeus or Spirit balls.
being kinda cheesy with the different hued people were this aliens well it doesn't matter they're on the other side of my fist.

seeing the cover for the sms black belt I can only think of Karate Champ in my mind's eye.
