I was thinking about hooking my Dreamcast up to the internet to play some Quake 3. I have a friend who has it for pc and I was wondering if there is anything we need to do to be playing in the same game together or will we be able to automatically connect.

I don't know too much about the subject but this might help. . . Mr. Green

You may play with your friend, so long as he has the Dreamcast map-pack
Downloaded here- http://www.fileplanet.com/61677/60000/fileinfo/Q3A-Dreamcast-Map-Pack)

Simply have him put the .pak file in the baseQ3 folder of the game (usually C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\baseq3)
___
You may need to have him create a server.cfg for map rotation- not sure though, this guide will explain it better than me:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/dreamcast/913945-quake-iii-arena-2000/faqs/10444

If this is required, then when the console opens after creating a shortcut, open Quake 3 and have him connect to his own server and you connect to the IP on dreamcast.

Once again, I have little knowledge but I hope it may assist you Wink
