There's a main reason why I stay away from the old genesis cartridges. Well all of them that require saves. After so many years the battery dies. Unfortunately after doing some research I see the battery has to be soldered . Does anyone have any tips and or experience on doing this?

While I've never personally changed a battery, I can recommend supplying a secondary power source while you're making the change if you have saves that you want to keep. Trace back to where the battery leads originate and tack on a couple of wires to go back to the secondary power source. Doing it that way ensures the wires won't become desoldered / disconnected while you're working on the battery.
