Excellent work on getting the server released and sharing it, Petterk! I'm really looking forward to trying this game out!

Modem players: the Dream Arena server has been rebuilt and I will make an effort to get the code cleaned up and released ASAP so you can play as well Smile.

Hey petterk, thanks so much for actually releasing the server. Looks like I will be adding another forum to the site, as all working DC online games get forums added Wink Great job by the way!

Cool that is great, as multiplatform support extends the potential preservation of the code's ability to run even further. More vector points to execute and run the code are a plus with regards to long term preservation.

Great work petterk. Awfully nice of the devs to release the server software without much hassle. Once the Dream Arena server is operational, I'll need to try connecting with my Linux server.

No need for testing, server is functional and working, but have some issues with CPU usage on modern computers. Devs working on it.

A server is up, look up the thread at dreamcast-talk.com

On the topic of whether users need to test the server out:

The very fact that it is publically available gives users the ability to do something unique, which is try to run the server themselves. Also, given the fact that all of these servers were written for operating systems and hardware that is now a decade old, proves that testing is more than encouraged. The CPU usage issue is a prime example of that.

Testing for access through PCDC servers, accessing it in a local environment, etc are all worthwhile pursuits. TheMytho has a new highly compatible Linux PCDC method he documented, so its worth it for him to put Toy Racer's server through its paces, either remotely or local.

Plus, many of these servers even when we have them working, suddenly can have issues. The PS2's Tribes Aerial Assault Dedicated server (AADS) was running into problems on newer Windows versions, which caused game crippling lag, making the game almost unplayable. We still have to double back and re-test AADS against a variety of legacy windows installations to find the compatibility sweetspot.

Great that a windows version has been made available. Wink

The windows version is updated and has been reworked by Frantz Cournil, which eliminated the cpu issue, atleast for me (and him).
