Other platforms during the 8 and 16 bit eras had different names in each region.

PC Engine vs Turbografx 16
Mega Drive vs Genesis
Famicom vs NES

It is annoying to keep referring to these platforms with two names. I can't make a post about the Genesis without calling it the MegaDrive/Genesis or MegaCD/SegaCD to be all inclusive.

This seems to have stopped when the Saturn rolled out (thank god).

What if the Dreamcast had two names? Like Dreamcast/Waveforce or Dreamcast/Clashbox "Where gamers go to clash, online!" (I am being absurd here)

P.S. Did you know that NAOMI = iMoan backwards? Very Happy

Still when online buying and ebay were kinda 'new' all you had to do was pay attention to what console was on the package to know what region (well general region) the game belongs whereas now you have to make sure the game is your unless youi have the means to play different region games on your console in question.
granted some regional stuff was no brainers Saturn games with black covers were mostly from the U.K. or the blue swirl for the DC or for most Japanese games if the title had Japanese in the title that was common oh that not for my region.
