A friend of mine just got a Dreamcast and is really into platform and action/adventure style games (currently a big fan of Jak & Dexter and Ratchet & Clank on PS2). He likes games that can be picked up and played without too much difficulty. They have to be sort of arcade-ish in that they are fun but not too crazy hard. Kart and simplified racing games would probably work, but realistic simulations would be too much. So, I'm looking for some Dreamcast games that you all would recommend for him to get.

I can think of these ones that I bet he'd like:
Rayman 2
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Jet Grind Radio
Looney Toons Space Race

But what about these:
MDK2
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil: Code Verionica
Ecco the Dolphin
House of the Dead 2

And what others would you suggest?

MDK2 is very difficult, so I wouldn't reccomend that.
Ecco can be frustrating at times, but your friend might enjoy it.
Resident Evil is an acquired taste. Have your friend try a RE game out first. House of the Dead 2 should be good fun for him, provided you can also locate a light gun.

If your friend likes games like Mario Kart, he can also try Pen Pen Tri-Icelon. If you haven't seen it, it's a very unusual cartoon-like animal race game. It is actually a fun party game too.

If he's interested in shooters, I would suggest Silent Scope. The DC version is actually designed for use with the standard controller, not the light gun.

My other suggestions for easy playing games to run with are:

Bomberman Online
Virtua Tennis (or 2K2)
Crazy Taxi 1 or 2
Daytona USA
Hydro Thunder
Test Drive: Le Mans (easy to manage)
Spider-Man
Soul Calibur (it's against the law to own a DC without this) Wink

OMFG the choice is obvious.

RAYMAN 2!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the greatest games of all time. Period. It's relativly easy, but hard enough to give you a challenge. I never threw my controller while playing this game.

This game is pure genious. All the textures in the game look hand painted, like from a disney movie set or something. I just get this fuzzy feeling while playing this game.

Man, amazing game.

Also Rayman 2 has all kinds of mini games and bonus games that are integrated in between levels and stuff. Like races and stuff like that.

Youve got to be an idiot not to own the Power Stone and Power Stone 2 games. I play them every day. It was online in Japan, but sadly taken off (fuck). Great games with abstract characters and weapons. Power Stone 1 is more of a fighting game and is harder. Power Stone 2 (my favorite) is like a party game sorta with a fighting game twist.
