how do i tell if i have a 33k or 56k modem?

If you have a PAL Dreamcast--meaning the swirl on the startup screen and on your DC is blue, then it's a 33k modem (or, there's a very rare chance that it's not, in the case that someone imported a 56k modem and swapped it outt). If you have an NTSC Dreamcast--meaning the swirl on your DC and on the startup screen is red, then you have a 56k modem (again, VERY rare chance that it's not).

Meaning you have a 33k modem, assuming you're living in the UK.

I don't think he is joking, he has a BBA for Quake 3 Arena....so he might not need his 56k modem.
