Just a bit of a research thread realy. I made a bit of an odd discovery the other day and I thought Id share it with you as it may help some people avoid loseing chars or reviveing them.

I have my Char ArthurMaizey on a 4MB Joytech memory unit. After the birth of my Daughter on Sunday I took some piccys with the Dreameye and downloaded one onto the same memory unit as my PSO char. When I went to play later on my char continualy loaded, the name and lv etc came up but the char never appeared. I reset the DC 3 times and same thing happened every time. I was thinking Id lost the char forever when I rememberd the photo I put on the memory unit, so I put the DC on erased the Dreameye photo from the unit and hey presto my char is back. This is the first time I have ever revived a char I thought was gone.

I know this char wasent saying press a to reload but it may still help people?. If you lost a char was it just after you saved another game on the memory unit or VMU?. Do you have a lost char on a VMU?, could you try moving all the files to another VMU and retesting your PSO char?. Anyone gets any results let me know.

My advice after discovering this would be to keep your PSO chars on a VMU alone if possible, and dont save anything else to the unit or VMU.

best way to keep ur character from bein lost is to get a vmu that ur gonna use strictly for pso. then format it meaning erasing it completely clean from data. then u should have no problems loosing ur saved character. this was a bugg that sega had reported, i remember reading this on a pso site for dreamcast and doin that with ur vmu is what sega had said to do in order to be safe.

[quote="maciver"]How big is a save

30 blocks for the character save and 15 blocks for the system save.

then ya have the rest left for quest which they all are different sizes.

Congratulations on the baby girl, Blast! Watching her grow and mature will be almost as entertaining as watching your PSO character grow and mature. Mr. Green

I look forward to playing with you online.

I'm sure she's beautiful, but Angelfire won't let us see (you have to make an HTML file that has the picture on the page; offsite linking directly to pictures isn't allowed by Angelfire).

But I offer my congratulations anyway!

This is quite odd as originaly linked this picture on nother forum and originaly it showed then was later replaced by the hosted by Angelfire sign.

Anyway just enter that address above into your URL bar and the picture will show, Ive already tried it.

Yep, we can't see it. Just do this:

Open Notepad. Create a new, blank file, and paste this into it:
Quote:

<HTML>
<BODY>
<IMG SRC="maizey.jpg">
</BODY>
</HTML>

Then, save it as .txt file named "index.txt" exactly. Make sure you can view extensions (Tools, Folder Options, View, disable "Hide file extensions for known file types") and then change the .txt on the end to .html (go ahead and click yes; the file isn't going to become "unstable"). Then just put the file in the same directory as the picture, and we'll be able to see it by going to that directory.

Really though, I think that Ofoto.com is the best way to share pictures like this without going through all that. Just make sure that when you are going through the "share" process, you un-check the box that says "Users must sign in to Ofoto to view pictures." Then you can just share the picture to a bogus email address. You will get a confirmation email to your own address that says you have successfully shared it, and that email will have a URL at the bottom that you can use to link to the album. That is probably your best bet.

I see it fine. You have to actually Copy and Paste the link into a browser address bar, and make sure to get rid of the space between "no name". This is put there by a mod on the boards here so that big links will wrap for DC browsers.

Well I only have DC so I dont know if ofoto will work on DC?. I use Angelfire as it seems to be the only place I can store pictures that I found on my DC. They dont like you linking to the pictures and my MRS had all her pictures ripped down by angelfire for remote linking and she was banned. I think I managed to avoid this by making a small page and my pictures never seem to get taken down. The block that Angelfire have put up is odd cus somtime pictures link for a while then become unavalible. Also I linked this picture on my MRS Network54 boad and it appeard as a picture and not a link, oddness.

Another test, can you hear this http://www.angelfire.com/freak2/noname/fat.wav

hmm cant edit out the space between no name so you will have to manualy remove it Sad .
