does half life for the dc have any sort of multiplayer support? such as split screen? I'm just curious.

Nope.

Early on in development, Valve intended on having multiplayer support, but they scrapped it to focus on single player game play. They then planned on bringing out a DC version of Counterstrike separately, but that idea was scrapped, along with Half-Life, when the plug was pulled on the Dreamcast.

Thats what I have heard as well. HOWEVER! I was playing PSO and was in the lounge wen I saw people talking about it. They said that the Multiplayer was fun. I asked them how it was possible, since there was no multiplayer mode.

They then said there was, but you could only access it through the console command menu. they were just beginning to tell me how when i got a &*^#@% PHONE CALL!!!

So, as for me, I'm still not convinced either way.

The web article I read was with Gabe Newell, founder of Valve and creative director of Half Life, and he mentioned that the multiplayer aspect was carved out of Half Life. Also, multiplayer stuff is not mentioned anywhere in the Half Life for Dreamcast Strategy Guide that I own.

If the option is hidden in there, like the link cable option in F355 Challenge, then it would be cool to find. Based on what I've read on it though, I don't think it's there. Just in case, I'll try monkeying around with my copy tonight.

yeah i found a server.cfg too and it just say

[quote]// Use this file to configure your DEDICATED server.
// This config file is executed everytime the server changes levels.

// disable autoaim
sv_aim 0

// player bounding boxes (collisions, not clipping)
sv_clienttrace 3.5

// disable clients' ability to pause the server
pausable 0

// default server name. Change to "Bob's Server", etc.
// hostname "Half-Life"

// maximum client movement speed
sv_maxspeed 270

// 20 minute timelimit
// mp_timelimit 20

neevr seen clienttrace before..... and it says dedicated server !!! Shocked im sure they accidently left that in or something....

This is cool. this means that some of HL's multiplayer code was left behind! Maybe there is some way to trigger Multiplayer mode afterall.

That would be so auxome. If we can actually find a way to get this to work, i swear to god, i would like, host a permanent dedicated server (in the even the multiplayer turned out to be online Very Happy )

[Morph Add-on: someone should sticky this. this is getting VERY interesting.]

i dont think HL DC would be compatible with pc, cause with the dc u usually need to log on to your isp first some how, no? there seems to be no evidence of any type of split screen but they defiantly left some server code in there, even if it is pc server code Confused so i guess there's not really much we can do, does a key board work with HL? and can u acess the console in HL DC? and it seems the HL DC would be version 1.0 ..... not sure if it's the same as HL 1.0 but
