Ooh, heat pipes! Mr. Green

That thing up there must be what mod chips were like, back in the 70s or something... Laughing

that's this DC ver. 1 mobo. It's liquid cooled. I have never seen a Ver. 1 so I have no idea what all the red wires goto. If it's a mod chip all i gotta say is holy crap, that must have taken friggin' hours.

It's a DC bored, I just don't know about the chip the red wires are coming from, I would say that was after market.

Thats a VERY interesting find! If you want to know what that is (since I havent a clue), try asking around @ DCFORUMS and DCHOMEBREW.

LOOKS like either a mod chip, or that the person attempted to modify a Dreamcast mainboard into a Devkit, or an Atomiswave machine. It is hard to tell from the photo though.

That's the auction.
Those chips on the red wires were taped on the top of the disk drive. So a small part of the metal plate that covers the mainboard was removed.

It's from an electrics workshop... I don't know who had it before and added those wires and I don't know where the rest of that DC is.

The only part I tested is the disk drive... I doesn't work. It just does not move... Maybe the laser is still OK.

What should I do? I can hang it on the wall . . . Rolling Eyes

EDIT: A new picture
I don't know if it's interesting (I don't think so) but on the DC's chip there's written: MPR-21068 SEGA JAPAN 9847 D
Strange mod chips: ATMEL ATF16V8B 15JC 9902 and 9935.
There are 27 red wires

Well... Short Info first: It's an old '98 Mainboard. That's why it's got this special cooling system.
It's supposed to be Mutli-Norm, but I didn't test it... I only have got PAL stuff.
In fact I didn't test it at all but I guess it should work.

So... I'd be interested in a working disk drive... if you have too many of them... Rolling Eyes
Ah... I just don't know... Laughing

What would you say?

Sure, I'll swap you a GD-ROM drive for it, if you want. Would you include the heat sink cooling unit as well?

Ok, sure. I'll swap you. You wanted a GD-ROM, right? Anything else, or is that it?

the heatpipes were in most of the jap versions of the dc instead of the heatsink like thing on the top plate of the metal dc mobo cover. i dunno why those red wires are there though. *scratches head in confusion*
