So, yes yet again another shootemup is getting released for the Dreamcast. Good news for gamers who love shmups and the Dreamcast console. The only way games can make it into the news here is if they have some sort of internet based interactivity. This latest release, Trizeal, will feature an Internet Ranking mode using a password system. The game probobly will not include an in-game browser, and probobly won't use the Dreamcast itself to upload any scores to the internet. This will be a website password affair. You can use a Dreamcast or PC browser to input your high score passwords. The online rankings will cover all of the gameplay modes included in Trizeal. The game will be released April 7th , 2005.

Trizeal is more in the veign of Mars Matrix or Zero Gunner, than Ikrauga or Psyvariar. It's gameplay mechanics appeal to both beginners and experts alike. This actually allows for Trizeal's 2 player mode to work quite well. If you are a beginner shootemup gamer, or general Dreamcast gamer, looking for a good shooter to kick around with a buddy, then Trizeal is it.

In Trizeal your craft can be transformed into 3 different ship models. Each supports a different attack type: Front Side Missles, Homing Rockets, and wide spread shot. Instead of choosing a specific ship type before the game, you can switch between any of these 3 ship configurations during the gameplay. From what video footage I have personally seen, Trizeal shares a similar weapon upgrade system to Iridion 2 for the GBA. You have to acquire power upgrades for different attack modes at your own discression throughout the stage. You can power up your ship to 5 different levels of intensity. At this moment I don't know if that means, 5 per attack, or 5 maximum and you have to dispense them to your different attacks accordingly.

Trizeal will feature 4 total gameplay modes including Arcade, Score Attack, SA Lifting, and SA OMAKE. There will even be an extra stage in the Score Attack OMAKE mode, which is not in the arcade version of Trizeal.

I hate to say this, but if you ever wanted to pitch in and make a difference with the Dreamcast getting more releases, now is the time. If you have been following our discussions on the message boards, then you might have read Trizeal's SOS post regarding their dire financial situation. Triangle Service breaks it down like this. The game has not been selling very well to arcade vendors. They are going to bring this game to the Dreamcast. If you want more Dreamcast games from Triangle Service, then this one needs to sell well. Plain and simple.

OnlineConsoles will be tossing a few topics up around release time to showcase hi-scores for Trizeal. Feel free to get active and let people know where you are ranking in the Trizeal internet world rankings. It should be fun.

Pre-order Trizeal if you:
...are looking to use the games internet rankings
...enjoy playing shootemups
...want to support Triangle Service
...want to support future Dreamcast releases
...are curious about the shmup genre
...have 60 bucks to spend, and have nothing else better to do with it

Do NOT pre-order Trizeal if:
...you are buying the game just because other people are.
(Even though this would benifit Triangle Service, I still think mindless commercialism is disgusting.)

You can Pre-Order Trizeal at all major import retailers. You can use a search engine to find a retailer that best suits you. I will not be posting any specific links to locations to purchase the game. If you are looking for recommendations on where to purchase you may do so in the forums(a few import shops love getting scene websites to plaster their store banners all over the place). I would also like to point out any gaming websites running promotional sales of the game must link said information in their signitures or only reply sale info to a thread regarding where to buy Trizeal. This site's spam policy still stands as is.

If you want to check out more info on Trizeal you can do so at the following links:

I'll have to wait and see if the scores can be downloaded from DC or not. If not it sems rather pointless, until 3 months ago I didnt have a pc so with no dc download it would have been pointless to me. I know lots of peole still only have DC and I have to see this from there point of view. I cant understand why they wouldent include dowloading from DC for a DC game that just doesnt make any sense.

well if you go to a site called lik sang, its an american company that imports japanese games all over the world, they dont charge postage on most things and are very reliable, they have a euro section but buy it from the american/japanese site cos it'll be cheaper, i think it cost me 30-35 £ and it will get to me maybe end of april early may. liksang or playasia.

I should have clarrified I am sorry, I will edit my post above. What I was trying to say was that Trizeal itself will not be able to actually connect to the internet and input passwords. You could go online with your Dreamcast using a DC browser and most likely input your passwords accuratly in whatever script triangle service decides to run.

Yes, where did you get such confirmation from? I have emailed TS with no reply, both in English and Japanese.

EDIT : Never thee mind. The site itself now mentions that it will be a PW system through a website. Sad that the DCs modem won't see use per se. Sad But stil wonderful of TS.
