I think it would be better to just keep it VGA but I'm not sure.

It should work with DC just fine, DC is a HDTV capable system, so there should be no problems hooking that from your VGA box to your $ony tv.

1 bummer though. Sad If your using a 100hz TV you won't be able to use the lightgun. It's because the TV is refresshing faster than the DC(60hz). But I reckon you'd get better with the VGA box. Wink

Buy another one? Buy one off of lik-sang or play asia, they aren't too expensive and they'll work if you buy it from one of those guys.

unfortunately it didn't work... it's a shame.

on that subject, is there something better than an s-cable for picture quality in a tv that doesn't support 480i like my tv?

I assume you mean for a tv that only supports 480i, as both composite and s-video cables are standard resolution (480i/60 and 576i/50) only. There are RGB Scart cables. It should be pretty much the same quality as VGA except interlaced. Note: a minority of games won't function using an RGB cable. Skies of Arcadia comes to mind. I have my DC connected with RGB Scart and it looks stunning.

SCART is for PAL Regions. Lots of Europeans keep recommending over and over for everyone to get SCART, however this standard is not a North American video standard.

We have:
RF-Switch
Composite
S-Video
Component

RCA composite and S-video plugs exist over here too, for example as tv-out on computers. Most TVs are equipped with SCART (and RF lead) only though. A SCART cable is capable of holding several kinds of signals, either a composite signal, an s-video signal, a combined Composite and RGB signal, and in rare cases (such as the dreamcast RGB cable) a RGB and sync signal.

Composite had colorbleed (yuk!)

S-Video has less colorbleed (Still yuk!)

Component has no colorbleed, at lease none that you could see. (huzzah!)

This page tells you everything you need to know (except about component)
