Hy here are the ports that should be forwarded if you connect your dc over your pc .

I write them down here , coz my chart that i gave you is pretty incomplete .

80
6026
6667
6669
7961
8794
9270

Explantation.

First when you hit connect 4x4 evo grabs a text file of the webserver master1.4x4evolution.com

http://master.4x4evolution.com/4x4evo1-pc-english-backend.txt
4x4evo1-pc-english-backend.txt
irc:chat1.4x4evolution.com:6667 1234 "USA (Lewisville, TX)"
testIrc:chat1.4x4evolution.com:7777 1234 "TEST server"
trackQueryUrl:tracks.4x4evolution.com/cgi-bin/trackquery.cgi

http://master.4x4evolution.com/4x4evo1-dc-english-backend.txt
4x4evo1-dc-english-backend.txt
irc:chat1.4x4evolution.com:6667 1234 "USA (Lewisville, TX)"
trackQueryUrl:tracks.4x4evolution.com/cgi-bin/trackquery.cgi

http://master.4x4evolution.com/4x4evo1-mac-english-backend.txt
4x4evo1-mac-english-backend.txt
irc:chat1.4x4evolution.com:6667 1234 "USA (Lewisville, TX)"
trackQueryUrl:tracks.4x4evolution.com/cgi-bin/trackquery.cgi

These text files have the Ips/hostnames of the chat server , and the track download url
1234 after chat1.4x4evolution.com mean if you can't connect to chat1 it tries chat2 chat3 ....This txt file is downloaded
of the webserver , means port 80 . Thats also why many have dns problems , as the game needs to find the hostname , and actually download the txt file of it

Then to connect to the irc chat server , you need to forward port 6667 . the standart port used by irc .

To host a game , you need to forward these ports to your dc .
6026
6667
7961
8794
9270

These are incomplete , as the game choose them random each time you connect .

I'll edit this post if i find another port that the game uses to host a game .

Me an Nikon have gone over this, and instead of individual ports (since a lot of routers have limits) we set ranges.

6667 is your default Gamespy IRC port. From there, you need to add 6900-8000 and 25000 - 30000 (actually, I think this one might only be used for Star Lancer). (set all ranges for TCP/UDP)

This will leave a lot of ports vulnerable, so make sure you disable the port service redirection when you're not playing the game so you can keep your network secure.

Well idk actually if anyone still cares for the game . What i know is that this domain was used for both evo1 and evo2 and was cut down pretty fast "thats what i heard from peopel online" . And from the waybackarchiv link i see only 5 tracks hosted there "lol" .
I have over 2000 on my HD >-<

Waybackarchiv Archived Site Content

But since i started playing again . And idle'ed a lot in the last days in the Chat . I informed me a bit on the remaining 4x4evo sites .

The ServerSoftware have been released to a couple peopel , and theres also a modified irc server somewhere around .
The Publisher rights where running out somewhere in 2004 and terminal reality since then abanonded the game . And gave out the evo1 and 2 server . But this does not mean u now can send them a inquiry "send me that and that and they will do ..."

One guy i know that have the evo2 server source "but he did not wanted the evo1 Sad "

http://vales.com/evo2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15479

And some 4x4 evolution clan guys

. Well but it#s really a big problem that u have to download the tracks manually to your pc dreamcast and Mac ....

Has the server software for 4x4 Evolution 1 been released? And is it available somewhere? Acquiring it would be very valuable. We can always run direct-ip games, but having the software would still be great to have larger lobby areas.

Also is this in relation to the trackquery script? or the irc server used for the lobbies? All 4x4 Evo uses is a modified IRC server, just like GameSpy's PeerChat.

Dang, so he asked Terminal Reality for the source code for 4x4 Evo 2 and not the original 4x4 Evo?

EDIT: By the way, I just emailed that KC guy about the 4x4 Evo software, I will report as soon as I hear back from him. I just noticed the conversation at his site was from October of 2005, so its more than a few months old.

Well as stated the evo1 and evo2 Server software has been released some time ago . A good source is the vales.com website and the waybackarchiv+karf.net .

Well and if you play a bit more 4x4 evo and idle in the Chatroom you can also gather alot of Informations Razz

Well heres the post from this KC on the evo1 site http://vales.com/evo1/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10449

And heres a thread about a modified standart irc "hybrid?" server to work with evo1 and 2 http://vales.com/evo1/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9073

But to be honest from what ive read from this Guy he wont give anything out ! And the only reason he was granted to recieve the server soft is because he was a beta tester of evo1 and had something to do with Monster truck madness 2 development
His website was officialy granted as evo1 community hub and he was running the "official" forum on http://evo.karf.net

All you have to do is find the guys who own eighter the Original Source or the modified Irc server .

Well... you know my position here, so it is difficult for me to just sit and idle on 4x4 Evolution. I think on every game I own someone constantly asks where I am or why I am not playing a certain game more. This is often because I am trying to donate my time towards so many games. For the platforms covered here at OC I own 31 online titles, and 5 LAN titles that can be tunneled online, which comes out to a total of 36 games. So to speak realistically, I am really putting serious time into about half of these, and the rest serve as games that I will pop online from time to time for a quick match here or there. For instance this weekend I have been trying to just finish Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater's offline single player, so that I can finally go online with Subsistance and get people at OC on my buddy list. Going online before I finish the single player would result in tons of spoilers. Last weekend I managed to get some good frags with grubensau on quake 3 atleast.

So all I can say is, I am trying my best and I hope people understand my situation. I will try to get online on 4x4 Evo soon for some races. Wink

I'm parsing through this stuff right now. I have not seen evidence yet that software is publically available in any form, but I am still reading. The material at the links above is hard to read because the posters at these locations don't have a firm grasp on the technology. They often confuse server software, with server computer hardware (any PC). In any event, I think our case in terms of Dreamcast Online would be enough to contact Terminal Reality and receive a vanilla software package. If I am unable to turn up some compatible software after parsing through this data I will fire off an email to Terminal Reality.

About the trackquery.cgi, if we could mimic it, we could just use a code breaker code to change the address from tracks.4x4evolution.com to something else, like a track repository here in dconline Idea

Heya peoples,
I was just doing a google search on trackquery.cgi because I was interested in trying to make my own track query script. And I happened to find this forum, Well check it out, I have the 4x4Evo 1 and 2 IRC server source code, which is from TRI and is a hybrid ircd edited code by Fletcher from TRI. And I'm also interested in getting this server put on a UNIX server somewhere on highspeed, I'm using dialup so it's usless for me to host it on my FreeBSD box. Also this IRC server will need to be ran on *BSD or Linux. If anyone out there is interested in getting a shell account on a FreeBSD box, I'd be glad to host this IRC server on it. I also just finished a script that handles the UDP socket for the server ping in the game. (ugh) Anyways, contact me if you're interested tkvortex (at) gmail.com

Hello TkVortex, Welcome to the site.

Could you release that software for 4x4 Evo 1?

Because of the trauma many of us have been through watching some of our favorite Dreamcast games go offline, we have a big thing here about putting software into the hands of the people. I have seen some other people in the PC 4x4 Evolution community who have the software, but refused to distribute it. We are very against software hoarding when it comes to online game server functionality.

4x4 Evolution does have a direct-ip functionality on the DC. So it is online forever for this reason alone. However having the software to take 4x4 Evolution online with a proper lobby system would be icing on the cake.

If you know of a place it can be downloaded let me know. Or you can email me the files to ben@onlineconsoles.com, so I can host them here on the site.

I sent you this same post via email as well.
