Ok this happened to me twice in one night. Ok I was playing a solo game, and I was joined by a known cheater. Shortly afterwards, I got a game line disconnected screen, but it didn't want to save! It said it couldn't find the VMU in slot 1. So, I took the VMU out, put it back in and it saved it. So I reconnected, went back to the same ship and made another game. I was then joined by someone I hadn't met before, but was in the group with the 1st cheater. Again, my game line was disconnected and it couldn't find the VMU! So I pulled it out and put it back in and saved. Have any of you had this happen before? If it was a hack, and the assholes that did it are reading this, you didn't do a damn bit of good. I didn't loose anything. Furthermore, I wouldn't have lost anything because my character is backed up. Twisted Evil

Aye,
Ill tell you the reson this happened mate:
If a hacker has a banned item (such as the double cannon) and he drops it on the floor, everyone except the hacker (and the people with the code protecting them from D/C) will all be disconnected...

Its because SEGA dont want the banned wepons to go spreading around the online game, they basicly just dont want people to have them....

But about the VMU not saving...
This can sometimes happen, if the hacker has a certain hack enabled, it can cause the game a load of shit, such as not saving when you exit...

Just dont play with the guy...

Also, a peice of advice:-
If you need to get out of a game quickly, pull out the phone plug from the back of the dreamcast, then the game will say 'connection lost' - 'now saving game' and just basicly quit out of the game legitly, and will save.

It isn't ok to discuss how to cheat, but it is ok to talk about elements surrounding cheating like why people do it. BUT, even this I discourage because it is a dead issue. but I will indulge people for a moment...

Yea some people do still cheat. The reason being, because of the same old issues. People are vying for social attention. Actually playing PSO as it is, is too difficult for some people to do. Finally you have people that cheat because of other motivations. Playing the video game isn't what gives them pleasure. They enjoy ripping the game apart and making it do things it wasn't normally meant to do. That is fine if they want to do it all by themselves, but when their actions start effecting other players, this is where the problem comes into play.

In the realm of online gaming there will always be cheaters.

The best advice is: Ignore and avoid cheating and cheaters. Play legit!

Good advice from Nikon,
Cheating can actully get very boring... Not much fun when you kill everything in 1 hit (including Falz)

Then again,
In the end, its all upto the player how he plays.

i find it ridiculious that there is still people ruining other peoples games on the dreamcast, i mean the online community on the dreamcast is small and fighting to keep games online/functioning well. If they really appreciated the dreamcast online and wanted it to carry on for year tocome they would not do this, btw i think there is a thread where you can post the hackers name somewhere on here.
peace, lozz.

They act this way out of selfishness, so they could care less how their actions effect others. In most cases how they effect others serves to benifit them in everyway. They actually feel good be ruining the game experience for others. These people are called Griefers, and this is a reoccuring theme across every game that is online enabled.

Yea, I deleted it. The thread ended up only serving to create drama. Someone would post a cheaters name, and then that cheater, by nature would explode and start screaming and yelling at everyone threatening to corrupt peoples characters like a little child. It was causing nothing but problems.

So far there is little to no documented information on how sega has dealt with cheating in the past, or why they were unable to adjust their server code to solve the many problems that plagued PSO. Nobody knows. A lot of people love to speculate, but it is a complete mystery. They seem to be doing better though with their newer titles like Blue Burst and PSU.

The way i see it,
SEGA have actully never been able to deal with cheating properly...
And nowa days, if i was to logon to PSObb, 70% of them will be cheaters.... If i direct some you guys to certain forum posts, ull be like Shocked wtf?

Their is many wankers in PSO, just like any other online game, but the type of hackers who fuck things up enjoy fucking up the most popular servers, so id say, 80% of DC PSO players are legit gamers who play for enjoyment.

The other 20% is people who cheat, but only play the game to socialise of you know what i mean... They aint really bothered about the game, they only play to socialise.

The last time i ran into a game fucker-upper ( Laughing ) was about a year ago now, who was NOLing random people.

So yeah, DC PSO is pretty much mostly all legit now Smile

I don't think it was someone dropping a hacked item. He was literally right in front of me when it happened. It seemed as something to make the dc not see the vmu, but when you reinsert it, the autoread kicks in and it finds it. Anyway, if they do read this, they'll know that every legit player knows how to deal with it! Mr. Green

you can do a double save. no codes or cheats, only 2 vmu and a controler. if you want i will tell you.......
ok hacking is very easy, even on pso blue burst for pc (online only) some people can actualy cheat, do not know how or why.
hacking takes the fun, the objectives that you have for the game (lvl200, beat the game, have all the weapons) all of this will be at your feet, but after a while the game will suck, and besides everything it is wrong, you play 300 hours to make your char at lvl 100, a hacker in 3 hours can make one at lvl 200, it is not fair, i hate even more the hacker that ruin the game, and to be honest sonic team does no care.

yea feel free to let us know KIREEK. One thing is, it might work for offline, but it may or may not work when it comes to online. I can test it though as I have a lot of VMU's so I can make a spare character to try it with to see if it will save to an alternate VMU and still allow the original character to sign online without any problems.

Your words speak the truth. You will fit in nicely here KIREEK, Wink as many of us feel the exact same way. Especially me. Cheating takes out all of the fun.

i found the double save by mistake, i never tought that the game could be so easily tricked.
- load the game
- at the pionner, change the vmu
- quit and save
- a message will apear teling you that the vmu does not have the file of the begining of the game, also it tells you to put the correct vmu
- two choices, quit or save, if you chose save, the save message will apear, when i first saw this i god mad and i repeatedly pressed A to save, faster, then more faster until.........NOW SAVING GAME......., i was surprised
Shocked - resuming you need to press A 2 times but it is hard to know the timing, so if you cannot do it, just press A fast until it saves
- after this you no longer need this, you can save a lvl 10 char on a previous lvl 2 char (if the same)
- if you lost your char, just play with the back up.
i hope this helps someone.
