In my experience, regarding charging the internal battery, it can charge and give you a good while longer or just die. Not unlike an automobile battery ?. If a good session cures it then that's fine - no problem. actually the internal battery will keep a charge as long as the dreamcast is plugged into the wall i think. and i opened up my dreamcast curious to see where the battery was since i never saw a battery the many times i went inside a dreamcast and im surprised i never noticed it even though it is sticking out at you right by the light on the controller board thing and yea youd have to solder that thing. |

It seems stupid how you have to solder.
Bad design from sega. WIt the saturn its just pop one in. The internal battery is : CR2032 |

yea but with the dreamcast you were never meant to change the battery inside, and if im not mistaken you dont have to take apart the saturn to get at the battery which means you were meant to change it from time to time while the dreamcast one is inside and soldered in place meaning you probably arent meant to change it. | |||
