I missed the result of the lawsuit brought against Ulala by a second rate popdancing grimmer. Having previously done battle with the likes of Porridge, Jaguar and Michael Jackson, our space heroine faced her biggest dance-off to date. Apparently this wretched soul believed Ulala was based on her dubious self, that she had been the template for Ulala's 'look' and style' . She even believed our fave reporter's dance moves had been lifted straight from her own repertoire !.

Anyhow the judge found evidence that the said loser was in fact a Morolian in disguise and through the case out.

Of course any Dreamcast owner worth their salt knows that Ulala is a Goddess and we, her spawn. The ORIGINAL space reporter.

O-K, i'll try and unbamboozle you.

A singer called Deelite had a song called 'Groove is in the Heart' in the early 1990's. She dressed and danced in a sixties/seventies funkystyle. Sega approached her to help promote the game Space Channel 5, but she declined. She then sued Sega over her apparent likeness to Ulala from the game. Basically accusing Sega of plagiarism because of Ulalas apparent likeness to her good self.

It was finally settled late last year. She lost the case and now faces court costs of $700,000-Ouch !

Nice one Blast ! A picture paints a thousand words ? Exactly the defendants point ! He looks nothing like Ulala Mr. Green

Seriously though, there is a likeness. But you could say the women from the B52s had a likeness. That countless sixties and seventies popstars/film stars appear similar. Not to mention the proliferation of J-Poppers and Manga characters around at the time the game was released. In fact i'd say those characters were more obvious inspirations for the game.

DeeLite herself was totally and obviously retro-influenced herself anyway !. Who and what were here influences ? Shouldn't they be suing her !?

To mustachioed plumbers over the world. Don't be silly, you are going to end up very much in debt.
