A few years ago I bought an imported Dreamcast (NTSC-J) that I think I remember being listed as having been modified to be region free. Lately it's been resetting itself so I went to open it up and perform the usual fixes, but I noticed the metallic warranty seal was still intact. I have no idea how it could be modified.
If the console was modified, I have no idea how the seal was left in place since it covers a screw hole. I've narrowed it down to either the person modifying the console broke the base off that the screw screws into or the seal wasn't put there by Sega. Does anyone here have an NTSC-J console they could look at for me? If so, look on the bottom and check to see if there is a metallic seal that says something along the lines of "warranty void if removed or otherwise tampered with." If there isn't check to see what the model is. Thanks. |
