I'm wondering if they're PAl, NTSC or regionfree. Coz they're basically promos, they should be regionfree, but on the other hand, they got the blue PAL swirl printed on the disk so... Anyone tested this yet (I can't since I only got a PAL DC & a Treamcast (which IS regionfree)
also we're making a list of the white label/promo games, so far we got:

Hmm good question. I would think they are PAL region since most Dreamcast games were setup differently depending on the region they were released. Both because of display modes and localization changes. I unfortunatly do not own any white label discs so I can't say for sure. Just speculation.

The discs are only compatible with European Dreamcasts. At the bottom of the disc, it reads: "Compatible with all Dreamcast hardware bearing the [PAL|E] mark."

indeed it does Dreamcast seemed to have missed it. Which gets me to a next question: Were there only PAL promo games?
I can't believe that the US & Japan didn't have those, & if they exist, what do they look like? |

Typically the Dreamcast promos demoed for magazines, etc were on GD-R discs.

Well, say for instance, I knew either Mazonemayu or Dreamcast really really well, and they let me borrow some white label games discs. As long as I have my trusty DC-X, wouldn't I still be able to play it on my NSTC Dreamcast?

Yes, they play without any problems. White labels are GD-ROM discs that just have a different label. They're usually (if not always) final releases of their retail counterpart. There are a few exceptions. I believe Metropolis Street Racer: Opel Challenge was a white-label exclusive (not sure if it was a demo elsewhere). I have Fighting Vipers and it says "BETA" on it, but I don't have a PAL copy of the retail release to check it against.

I have the original Metropolis Street Racer white label disc, but not the Opel Challenge disc. From what I've seen, the white label discs are all PAL, and very close to, if not the final, retail versions of the games.

Maybe we could use this thread to create a database of sorts of the released "white label" discs. Here is what I have:
