We recently had a discussion on this at DCEmulation.org: http://dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=1003718#p1003718

...where I posted a list of all known games that cannot be forced to VGA:

Quote:

NOT VGA COMPATIBLE

Games that boot with a black screen but have sound after using the switch trick
will not have a sympton in brackets.

==========
5.1 - NTSC
==========

Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Mix
Dance Dance Revolution Club Version
Jikkyou Pawafuru Puro Yakyuu
King of Fighters Evolution (~) (Resets Dreamcast after startup)
Psycic Force 2012
Rune Caster
The Psychology Game
Treasure Strike

what method did you use to boot these games? i used 3 different boot discs on my NTSC collection and couldn't get any of the following games to load.

WWF: Attitude
Soul Fighter
MTV Skateboarding
The Ring: Terror Realm

the only one you have that i couldn't get working is King Of Fighters: Evolution. we are not patching the games and burning ISOs. we are only using boot discs. just thought id toss that out there. I'm not sure if your saying that the list you provided is complete or not. I'm guessing your not. if that is the case add the games that i and Mazonemayu listed to your list.

Has anyone figured out a way to boot Last Blade 2 into VGA? I have 3 reelases of this game (US, JP, JP DreKore), and none of them are VGA compatible. I tried booting them with GameShark and CodeBreaker with no luck.

Using Innovation's "Super Game Converter" doesn't work either for Last Blade 2, at least, with the NTSC version. It just goes to a blank screen, so it doesn't even show the "not supported" screen.

I got those same results with one of the discs I was using. It would go to a blank screen and you could hear the game in the background running sound. So strange.

Same here, which is a shame because I'd love to try it.

Has anyone tried to re-rip Last Blade 2 and force the game into VGA mode? Last I recall this can be toggled by adjusting settings when setting up Dreamcast ISO's.

My Action replay boot disc stopped working Sad so I tried using one I have on CDR (came with a games bundle) but its not VGA compatible. Just wondering which one it might be?

codebreaker is an excellent choice Wink i have also used DC hakker to boot discs. though its VGA compatible its not very user friendly. im pretty sure game shark works on VGA but idk how well it boots games, if at all? i never had much luck with it.

has anyone got an NTSC-J Gunbird? I don't, and I'd like to know if it can be tricked with a bootdisk, as the other 2 can't
