A couple of weeks ago an online version of Doom was released for DC here. It requires BBA for online play, but it sounds very exciting. I don't have a BBA so I can't try it, but, I would like to hear how well it runs and stuff. Anyone with a BBA want to give it a try? Take some pictures maybe? this is really cool, hope to try it out sometime. No bba yet though.
I have a feeling that a lot of dc fans are also doom fans. Until recently I used to pop in the 32x cart once in a while for a quick and dirty doom fix. If any of you guys try it out, please post some of your experiences. |

i gave one version of doom a try in an emulator. it ran like shit, maybe this one will work better? anyway it won't hurt to try it and if it works better than the last one i could burn it for the online portion.

I have also been reading about this the past couple of weeks or so.
For me, playing this online would be great, but the only problem is that the setup configuration for playing online seems really complicated for most people/players. Plus, Since it requires a BBA ONLY to play online, many of us here wont be able to play. None the less, depending on my time/schedule, I may download it and check it out, and maybe if more of you guys are interested (and we can get it working), maybe we can try the online out one "Fragging Friday". |

I think its more interesting though that the BBA code for its multiplayer is open source. I think I may need to get a BBA if that is the case. Very exciting times!

Was 320x240 resolution supported before this release? Can anyone confirm that this renders with scanlines on an SDTV? I really want to see this in action under 240p. I am at work right now so won't be able to test this out until this afternoon.

I didn't even notice this..
Even if the setup is complicated, it does kinda prove that the door of online play can be opened. Very impressive, and definitely makes me wanna track down a BBA. |

Well I downloaded it earlier, and I Have to tell everyone that getting this game setup on a bootable disc for play on a dreamcast seems extremely complicated. When you download the file it isnt just "ready to go" and 1 2 3 done. Hopefully someone here at the site can understand all of this, and possibly post a completed version.
Unfortunately it seems a bit too complicated for me to figure out ***UPDATE*** Well I found a bootable version posted on another forum, I played a few levels of it (offline) and I can say that it looks good, and runs very smooth. Ive posted a few photos for those who requested it. Im still gonna tinker with it probably later on today, and hopefully try the online later on as well. |

There is already 3 download links with it working. Impulses has the demo, Nonothat has the full doom 1 and 2 working and Team Xlink version is packed with dummy files for faster loading, and also has a 90min version. Last edited by Favrenation on Sun Sep 05, 2010 8:51 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Hey is there a link for a ISO file cause the redme from the first link seems a little too complicated for me... i just know how to 1. find iso 2. burn iso 3. play game....

If and when I get a dreamcast, DooMs going on my list of games to get. I never even knew homebrew games could utilize online gameplay, simply amazing. Technically, homebrew developers could make online games for possibly any online console. This is probally too difficult and time consuming, but if there was a willing hb development crew.....we may just be able to truely keep consoles online forever.

So, no confirmation on doom dc online?
