Nice! Maybe once it's set up, you can register it with gametracker. So next week, you're thinking?

Hey guys,

I was following that Q3A thread that roman linked us to, and it looks like somebody has had an alternative Master Server running for a couple years. Now, I've never played that much Q3A on PC (I was always more of a UT99 guy back then), so I don't know if this is something that we DC users could work with... but is is possible?

Quoted text:

"
Hey guys, there is an alternative master server that I created with a friend. Also I made a modified quake 3 client for windows so people can the servers that are reporting to the master server. Or if you're using the latest version of ioquake3 then open up the console and type in:
Code:
\sv_master1 master.maverickservers.com

Please check it out. It's been up for more than 2 years now and quite a few servers are using it.

If anyone would like to add their Quake 3 server to our master server, then add this to your server config:
Code:
set sv_master2 "master.maverickservers.com"
"

The game hasn't arrived yet. Once it arrives the server will be up. Although I hope JJC5150 gets a server up for tomorrow's fragging Friday. Any work on that JJC?

Sure, I would try and register it with gameteacker

Well Guys, Unfortunately I have Bad News ;

The Server is set up, software installed, and seems to be broadcasting - But I cant connect to it.

The Master Server for Q3, still has no response.

And I cant connect by using my ip address, or my local (same network) ip address.

All the proper ports are open, etc,.........and i dont know what else to do, im going to keep trying and ill let you know if there are any updates.

Sorry guys, trying my best here Sad

Hi Guys,

Ok update for you - installed the software on another machine (machine #2), and the server is running. the problem that I originally had was with a configuration file.

But we still have a problem, the server is broadcasting, and I can connect to it locally (from my network), but can not connect from the net (using my ip, etc).

So im not sure what to make of it, I hope that it is not the end of DC quake 3,.....but unfortunately it may be.

This is interesting. What exactly do you mean you can connect to it locally? Are you connecting with your dreamcast? Is LAN play an option? (I ask because I've got a few bba's and quite a few local friends who also love this game as much as I do).

Thats Exactly it - when you set up a server, you can connect to it by LAN or online (depending on how its setup). So yes, if your friends have BBA's and DC's, you can all connect and play together via LAN once you set up a server of your own.

Also, I tried to connect to the addresses that Roman listed as well for DCA - cant connect to them either.

Hey guys, I have been really swamped and havn't had time to look into this issue with id software's master list.

OC's new game server is up, but I am still working on a bit of development getting services restored.

I can make you all 2 promisses:

1.) OC wil host a new Dreamcast Community Quake 3 Master list, that anyone and everyone can advertise their server to
2.) OC's Q3 servers will be back up shortly

You will be able to take advantage of OC's DNS server to redirect to the new Master List without having to use any sort of boot disc. So no need to worry Wink

I just need the next few days to get some of this sorted out. I had been having massive internet/phone line interruptions all this past week, and had a repair guy in today. Hopefully the problems have been resolved.

I've got a master server up if anyone wants to use it.
until lordnikon gets the OC servers up.

to host a server on it set your master server to: master0.game-server.cc

to connect to it set your DNS to: 98.223.103.248
