Hi all,

Well as you may or may not have known I have been sending emails back and forth to gamespy for weeks, as well as Bethesda, and I have finally recieved the following email from Bethesda:

Hello,

GameSpy Arcade no longer supports PBA Tour Bowling 2001. You can find a list of supported games at http://www.gamespyarcade.com/games/ . You can still play multiplayer games using TCP/IP.

PBA Tour Bowling 2001 can be played by up to 4 players over a LAN (Local Area Network). Follow the steps below to setup a LAN game of PBA Tour Bowling 2001;

NOTE: Each player (up to 4 players), must have a legal copy of the game.

For the HOST:

1. Launch PBA Tour Bowling 2001
2. Choose Start New Game
3. Choose Network Game
4. Choose TCP/IP (LAN)
5. Choose Create
6. Verify the game options you wish to use.
7. Click Ready

For the other Players:

1. Launch PBA Tour Bowling 2001
2. Choose Start New Game
3. Choose Network Game
4. Choose TCP/IP (LAN)
5. Choose Show Sessions
6. Choose the Session created by the Host player, and click Join.

If you need further assistance, you can also reach us online at http://support.bethsoft.com. Please include all previous replies when/if responding to this message.

Best Regards,
Sandra R. at Bethesda Softworks Technical Support

So, this seems to be official confirmation that this game is now offline forever, I hope to be doing A PC-PC test sometime in the next 3 weeks just to be sure, but goin by the list on the link provided in the email is t is not supported any longer...especially as Starlancer and 4x4 evo are still on the list.

Cheers, Craig

Glad I got to play this on the DC it was fun while it lasted. Shame more people wernt open minded enuf to want to play it Sad .

Maybe the DC is actualy responsible for the servers closure. Myabe all the unauthorised DC's online were detected and they shut the server. Then again maybe they just shut it cus its old but that dont match in with the other games still being up.

They probably didn't even realize the server was still up and running. I'm sure an unreleased game for a "dead" console wasn't on Bethesda's radar scope.

I did read somewhere recently (perhaps in Game Informer) that Bethesda was preparing for the release of PBA Bowling 2005, so perhaps the canning of the DC version was in preparation of the upcoming release.

The LAN instructions are pretty funny. Are there any legitimate copies of the game out there? I don't think so.

Say, is it really possible to hold a game over LAN with the DC version? If you can, does that leave the door open a tiny bit for online possibilities?

Hi,

No, they are referring to the PC version of the game, because of course I couldn't ask about the DC version....so yeah official PC versions exist and it is possible to use a LAN setup with it....but sadly the DC version never had these options added tot he game...a real shame

Cheers, Craig

10-4. I figured maybe you asked about the Dreamcast version and they responded in reference to the PC version.

The worst part about this is that they don't support pc version. If they dont support pc, then what do peeps that they support dc? I never got to this game.
