Hey all, (sorry its been such a long time)

Has everyone seen that Pier Solar (an indie RPG released for Megadrive 2 years back) is making its way onto dreamcast? So far the best indie release for DC has been Wind and Water, but this looks like it might top it. Here is the kickstarter page (I think they will do a regular release also) http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/573261866/pier-solar-hd-an-rpg-for-xbox360-pc-mac-linux-and

lozz.

This seems a very good game Smile. Need to check more about it.

It would be cool if the low-res version was included on the Dreamcast version as well, and ran in 240p. If they aren't planning this already, maybe we should recommend it to them?

according to them, it will be: you can find an item (megadrive cartridge) early in game, which allows you to switch to the original graphics if you want to. not sure about the 240p though...

Will the regular Dreamcast edition be sold at a later date, or is this a one-time offer?

After going back and forth over what to do the past 4 days (when I saw this thread) pledge a few bux get the dc version or the OST CDs, and knowing I had planned to get it on Genesis I convinced myself to go ahead and back it under the Dreamcast version!

now to wait a year before I get my hand on the product. Confused

I have the Genesis version. It's an homage to very unforgiving jrpg titles of the past. I'm not an rpg guy so I find much of the game very tedious, but appreciate the difficulty.

I just finished listening to one of the WM guys on a podcast. He didn't mention 240p, but did say that each version will include the original game available right away instead of having it as an unlockable. They seem to know their tech, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't 240p

I'm not too interested in the whole HD thing, but I might get the DC release. What I'd really like is just the strategy guide.

I think the HD feature is a good thing only because they are actually re-doing all of the artwork/textures. That is a welcome feature. I don't scoff at games in 480i that have hi-resolution graphics. Its when any developer/company tries to take 240p pixel art, scale it, applies filters, and THEN tries to call it HD.

Remember, with the Dreamcast's ability to do very good anti-flicker without fuzzing out the graphics, Pier Solar could look amazing on an SDTV in 480i with the upgraded artwork. Check out Super Street Fighter 2X to see what I am talking about. That game is in 480i (not 240p) and has very hard edged pixels. On any other platform this would result in high levels of screen flicker/shimmer in 480i, but the picture is very stable on the DC. No eye strain at all.
