People were going to do it anyway, but I guess it's nice that it'll be legal now.
This would protect people who distribute cracks to play network-required games offline from stuff like C&Ds, meaning it'll be easier to host the files required. |

It applies to any game where the only way to play the game is via network mode. So this would apply to Planet Ring on the Dreamcast. | ||||

At least its a step in the right direction., too bad its limited though. Hopefully it won't be so limited later down the road. I mean come on, we are talking about defunct consoles (aka orignal xbox and so on, probably even the Wii), and out of print games that requires said online service to play online multiplayer. I can understand their decision with current consoles (PS4/XB one) and current games, or consoles (PS3/360) and games that are still officially supported online. | ||||
