I was monkeying around with it yesterday, testing any wierd cmds and cvars, when I stumbled into this.

cmd: alias

For some reason, when I put this comman in, it said something like "alias <insert cmd here>". I thought, "odd...", so i messed with it a bit. Im not sure what its supposed to do, but I found something VERY interesting with it.

You know how when you type "connect" it says "connect not valid from the console"? Well, I typed this:

alias connect

And it didnt reject it! When I typed alias again, the inputted connect cmd came up under it. So i then typed this:

alias connect 10.2.1.130 (random IP address)

Still didnt reject it. I dont have a BBA or a working phone line at home right now, so I cant test it. If somebody wants to tinker around with it, by all means do so!

I did some research on the alias cmd. Apparently, it is used for binding multiple commands to one key.

Like this:

alias <name> "cmd1;cmd2"

Ill fiddle around with it summore later.

ok, kool.

Oh, I also found something else that is interesting (lol, and my HL isnt here)

Some versions will reject the connect command if not put into parenthesis, so I will give that a whirl wen I can.

no, of course you can do it. Very Happy Plug in the keyboard, the boot up HL. go into Hazard Course (boots fastest) and hit this key:

~

its next to the 1 key. that will open the console. knock yourself out! Very Happy

Oh, if you wanna test cmds and cvars, type one of these:

cmdlist
cvarlist

okay, alias was a dead end. it still came up "invalid".

but i am currently looking into the cmd "rcon". Apparently, rcan stands for remote console, and a lot of things seem to work with it. Only problem is, it functions differently from the normal console, so Im stuck.
