Take me through the proper stages of an online F355 match, if could.

So far, I have:

  • Dial in
  • Taken to map selection
  • Taken to car configuration screen
  • Taken to waiting screen (Where you are given a person to race against)
  • Preliminary
  • Preliminary results returned.
  • Real race
  • Waiting for other player's records
  • Game disconnects and you watch the reply.

Does the game disconnect for everyone else after the race? This is the first time I've been able to watch the reply, but am still not sure if it's supposed to disconnect. It would seem like quite a burden if you wanted to race a lot and you have to keep reconnecting.

Yes this is how F355 properly functions online. This is normal. You sign online and race and then the big pay off is being able to watch the instant replay of the match to see who won the final. You get disconnected, and then watch the replay. Then you sign back online to race again.

This is exactly how it is supposed to work.

Perfect. Nikon, F355 now works 100% on the PC / DC server. At least, on the 2000 / XP configuration anyways. Thanks for the help.

What was done differently to get the final replay to download?

I forwarded 80 in my router to the PC / DC server. I have no idea if it's that or 2000 / XP. Still working with 2000 right now, so I haven't had a chance to try 98.

Yea... forwarding port 80 is a real problem, as it will kill off other PC's on the network from getting proper website access. Interesting that it solves the reply freeze issue, but creates a whole new problem in the process.

Let me get this right... you have XP and 2000, and yet you want to use 98?

Yes. For two reasons. It offers better support for the PC / DC setup, and I need to test it because I am currently in the process of putting a PC / DC installation package together that will work for every available version of Windows. As much as a lot of people don't like to hear it, there are still people who, gasp, use and/or prefer the more stable 9X series.
