When I first played this mode I didn't get what I was supposed to do. I would shoot enemies and try not to die, and then the little statue would toss a small rock or something. Then I would try and shoot it, would move around and that was that.

I havn't looked at any guides on it yet since then, or asked anyone. Just something I hadn't gotten around to yet.

So I was getting my Trizeal on in the wee hours of the morning. So I decided to take another stab at Lifting mode, and I figured it out.

You know that little rock that the statue throws up? Well you are supposed to play hacky sack with it. Just move your ship underneath it and it will bounce it back up into the air again. Be carefull because t can go at an angle, and even move off screen. You want to keep the sequence going for as long as possible for more points.

Pretty awsome!

Just thought I would mention this for other players who might not have understood this mode yet.

haha, ya I didn't know what was going on at first either.

You could of looked through the manual too, it shows with drawings what you do in Lifting mode.

you can also do this in level 2. I was able to keep the rock up until about halfway into the boss fight. Great way to rack up the points.

I remember making the rock jump so it got across the water and onto land. But when I did it I had no idea what I had done to make it do that.

Yea I should have had the sense to look in the manual. Isn't that like the biggest mistake everyone makes?

I never knew that! It always confused me immensely. I'll give it a try later.

well most people tend not to bother with a manual that's written in japanese. But the pictures show exactly what happens :p

reading the manual for Grandia 2 jp was a lost cause for me though =/

why did I even buy the jp version anyway...

Maybe cause it was DIRT CHEAP (well I keep thinking about buying a sega saturn import copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga instead of getting a US copy)
You're right though the picture shows exactly what you need to do.

Someone beat my lifting mode score. Its in the official trizeal rankings. Someone beat me so I have something to aim for.
