I never knew there was online rpgs outside of PSO. After reading the thread about the 5th Anniversary of PSO, I saw the Rune Jade was an online rpg. I also read about Hundred Swords being online, too. What kind of games were these? Did anyone play these? How were they? Any and all comments would be appreciated. I really never heard of Rune Jade, while I heard Hundred Swords was a good game.

Rune Jade was actually the very first Dreamcast Online RPG. It was released 3-4 months before PSO in japan. Sadly, the game had a very short lifespan. Going offline a little more than a year later in september of 2001.

Does Rune Jade have a single player mode or is it online only? Any multiplayer for it? I know that's it's offline, but what kind of server did it run off of? It's looks like a pretty sweet game.

Rune Jade will have both a single-player and a multi-player network mode for the DC modem or the DC cable modem, when this is eventually released. Hudson will also most likely take advantage of the upcoming DC keyboard so that people playing online can chat with each other. There will be over 100 maps available for play, but only around 20 or so will be available in single player. A player's profession will also determine what map he or she gets in single player mode. In multiplayer, as long as you have mixed professions, you will be able to play in almost all maps.New details have emerged regarding Rune Jade, an upcoming Dreamcast RPG similar in style to the popular action-RPG Diablo. Hudson, the game's publisher, has announced that the multiplayer network aspect of the Japanese version of the game will use a customized version of Dwango, a popular online gaming service. Japanese gamers will access the customized service, called Iwango, through their own internet service providers (ISPs) in order to reduce costly Japanese phone charges.

It sucks. I wish it had an offline mode. I hope ring age releases. I'm looking forward to it. It is worth importing Rune Jade and well as Hundred Swords? Are they import friendly?

Hundred Swords is playable, but it's story is text heavy, which means you will definately lose a lot in translation. However, I believe there are at least 2 (?) translations in the works. Regardless, if your big on the import scene, this would be one to pick up.

Once you learn how to play Hundred Swords, then playing the game isn't a problem. The barrier is the menus and knowing what you are doing. I personally bought the PC version so I could learn how to play first. Then I will import the DC version and I will be able to play it on my Dreamcast and know what menus to click on regardless of the language.
