I did not see a topic regarding these offers, so fyi;

Not due until the end of the year, wishful thinking? Wink

They have never made us wait before. Laughing

Interesting seeing how I missed DUX it looks like a good deal although the prices get up there for the good stuff.

What bugged me was as far as I could tell you had to pledge $65 minimum to recieve the game. I know that this included the new one and redux, but $65 is far too high a price for many people. I would have paid maybe $40 max to get this new game (if I had any money to spare at all that is).

It looks great, and sounds amazing! But I wonder if it is actually running on the DC hardware yet? It was a lot of money to put forward, especially if the DC version is dropped in favour of the HD versions. I don't think that will happen, they seem to love the DC and want to continue to support it with releases. Anyone pre-order this?

See here for a discussion about Redux over at shmups:
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41268

People make a lot of good points.

Here are some of my own:

I totally understand that it takes time to develop a video game. I also understand that time is money. However... I feel that because the Dreamcast community is so niche, so diehard, and so hardcore, that you have to give back to the community as much as you take. The fact that DUX itself wasn't tested properly by real shmup players, and instead was tested by the developers beer drinking buddies on a weekend left the game riddled with bugs and weak design decisions. The developer promissed people a replacement disc, but he didn't have the funds to do so. I have not backtracked to see if a formal apology was ever made on the matter. This was a PR disaster for the developer, and a learning experience for him, no doubt about it. However I question how much he really learned?

I would feel better if they were releasing a new game with this Kickstarter initiative. With Redux, it seems like they are holding something ransom that many members of the Dreamcast/shmup community deserved, even at the raw cost of manufacturing/shipping.

I understand the developers want to bring this game to other systems, but given the game's sordid past, to hold it ransom with under a 1,000 copies for Dreamcast fans is a crime.

It seems they are selling these at hucast.com, which is great:

I do want Dux 1.5 and Redux. Are these just pre-order? or are they out and in the wild?

According to the Hucast site, DUX 1.5 and 1.5 W/Soundtrack are now shipping, Redux has not. I personally thought, that all those who purchased the original DUX, should have had a free copy of 1.5 sent to them.

Wow. That is weird. They should have just shipped copies back out to those who originally ordered. Like they should have sent a free voucher via snail mail to people who ordered the original game. I guess they didn't keep an address database of their customers.

The DUX arcade stick looks nice. I wonder how the VMU connects underneath. Hmm...
